Reason?

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world, but the unreasonable man tries to adapt the world to him--therefore, all progress depends upon the unreasonable man".

Hope my friends have a look at this. Sometimes I am labelled as unreasonable. I respond, Thank God it is 'sometimes'!! Being reasonable or unreasonable is a relative term depending upon the depth upto which you can look in the absence of any logical situation. This in turn depends on the amount of experience we have and the amount of imagination that works in our heads (assuming we are using head for thinking purpose!).

Do we realize that most decisions in life are based on past experiences? If we are counting how many of our thoughts are new every day, we can easily end up with a small number. Almost all our decisions are based on past data. And almost all the history-making-decisions are based on pro-active thought, over-looking past-data-conclusions.

If we can forget for the moment that we are in a timeline with a non-negative axis, it becomes easy for us to go to the future and in our minds, see the results of what we are upto.

This applies to all kinds of decisions that we make in life. Let us take few minor examples and some major ones. Say whether it is going to rain today - this answer can be given by seeing what kind of weather is prevailing since morning, since past few days, past few months etc. (And this does not consider rain caused due to vapor-condensation from volcanic eruption! Or the water tank above your roof bursting on its own!) And an example of a major decision is - say, someone wants to decide which subjects to choose in high school. You look what you have been liking till date, how others have been faring in them, how is the market going on! And you always make a better decision by thinking about the future changes possible.

One good example would be - my friend decided not to marry someone because he resembled another fellow she had a bad affair with. Too much risk if you think about the future before taking this decision! Trichologists would benefit due to your hair loss.

"The more one analyses people, the more all reasons for analysis disappear. Sooner or later one comes to that dreadful universal thing called human nature.”

I believe a good balance of reasonable and unreasonable approach is required for a good life.

As some unreasonable fellow once said - "Reason has always existed, but not always in a reasonable form." (This lst sentence is from Karl Marx!)
