Life...

Life is Short, so break the rules...
Forgive quickly,
Believe slowly,
Love truly,
Laugh uncontrollably,
And...
Never regret anything that made you smile...
Every Little Smile can touch somebody's heart

Garbage Truck and you...

From an email fwd:

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? However, the mark of a successful person is  how quickly one can get back their focus on what's important. David J. Pollay explains his story in this way….

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a  New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. I hopped in a taxi, and  we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right  lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space  right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded,  and missed the other car's back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident,  whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. My  taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean…he was  friendly. So, I said, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost  ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!"

And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, "The Law of  the Garbage Truck."

"Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage,  full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don't  take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did."

I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over  me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other  people: at work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I said, "I'm not going to do it anymore."

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. Love the  people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don't. Believe that everything happens for a reason. Never let the garbage truck run over you….

Perspective...

From an email fwd:When I read this email, I said I will compose a story based on these lines but there was some originality in this email and I copy-pasted it word-by-word, thought-by-thought, error-by-error, smile-by-smile. Read on…..

----------------------------------

The train has started moving. It is packed with people of all ages, mostly with the working men and women and young college guys and gals. Near the window, seated a old man with his 30 year old son. As the train moves by, the son is overwhelmed with joy as he was thrilled with the scenery outside..

"See dad, the scenery of green trees moving away is very beautiful"

This behavior from a thirty year old son made the other people feel strange about him. Every one started murmuring something or other about this son."This guy seems to be a krack.." newly married Anil whispered to his wife.

Suddenly it started raining... Rain drops fell on the travelers through the opened window. The Thirty year old son , filled with  joy " see dad, how beautiful the rain is .."

Anil's wife got irritated with the rain drops spoiling her new suit.

Anil said,"Cant you see its raining, you old man, if ur son is not feeling well get him soon to a mental asylum..and dont disturb public henceforth."

The old man hesitated first and then in a low tone replied " we are on the way back from hospital, my son got discharged today morning , he was a blind by birth, last week only he got his vision,  these rain and nature are new to his eyes.. Please forgive us for the inconvenience caused..."

Well..

You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into your lover's arms can only come later when you're sure they won't laugh if you trip. ~Jonathan Carroll, "Outside the Dog Museum"

Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. ~Oprah Winfrey

I learned the real meaning of love. Love is absolute loyalty. People fade, looks fade, but loyalty never fades. You can depend so much on certain people, you can set your watch by them. And that's love, even if it doesn't seem very exciting. ~Sylvester Stallone

Hearts..

Empty pockets never held anyone back.  Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.  ~Norman Vincent Peale

Kiddo?

I met them today morning when they had come to start the formalities for adoption of a kid. I am not convinced that they are suitable enough to handle the complexities of adopting a kid. I felt they are more interested in a lovely looking kid rather than anything else. People should have the maturity to handle physical deficiencies and emotional challenges associated.

It is a new beginning and like all new beginnings, we have to let go of things in the past. The parents should forget that they are facing some situation without a kid. They should be convinced that the newcomer in their home is a harbinger of joy and happiness and things which were not as good as of now are all going to change.

A kid does not know much when being adopted. But still (s)he is very much aware of things going around and knows that there have been times when (s)he was a lot loved and times when (s)he was totally considered a burden on the society.

They do understand that they are getting newer parents. They know the meaning of the word 'new' being associated with everything that changes. Adopting parents often assume that the kid is ignorant. They should not do so.

The condition of these kids is much better than those who are left to defend for themselves. Those who end up doing odd jobs in order to survive. And those who have nobody to turn to when they are abused.

When they see this love being given to them without asking, they initially feel afraid. All bad things in life started in a good way. Someone gave them a chocolate before making them work and then shouting at them in a language that you won't use for your own kids. Someone gave them an embrace before fingering around with them. These are so traumatic to the kids, particularly when the kid does not know how to express the actual feelings, leaving apart whom to express with.

Life is beautiful.

Music...

How is music born? It is born from a combination of sound and silence. Sound and silence are so beautiful in their own ways. And think of music when rhythms of sound and silence play around to create magic.

Music is what feelings sound like. It is a picture painted on the canvas of silence. The response of human mind to any stimuli falls short of the response it has for something sweet to the ears.

Music can alter your thoughts to such a great extent and that too in such a quick manner that you feel lifted from one world to another. We play the music, not the instrument. Long back I had read some poem in my schooldays in which the poet had requested the creator convert him to a flute so that the music of life can flow through him and give happiness to the world around him.

Music is something that the soul is so close to but can never translate into any other form of words or speech or action, as once translated, the virgin beauty of expression is something gets touched.

An eternal dance between sound and silence.

Paana.. Khonaa..

na hai yeh pana, na khona hi hai
tera na hona jane, kyun hona hi hai
tum se hi din hota hai, surmaiye shaam aati, tumse hi, tumse hi
har ghadi saans aati hai, zindagi kehlati hai, tumse hi, tumse hi
na hai yeh pana, na khona hi hai
tera na hona jane, kyun hona hi hai

aankhon mein ankhein teri, bahoon mein baahein teri
mera na mujhmein kuch raha, hua kya
baaton mein baatein teri, raatein saugatein teri
kyun tera sab yeh ho gaya, hua kya
main kahin bhi jata hoon, tumse hi mil jata hoon, tumse hi, tumse hi
mein khamoshi hai, thodi si behoshi hai, tum se hi, tum se hi

aadha sa wada kabhi, aadhe se jayada kabhi
jee chaahe kar lu is tarah wafa ka
chhode na chhoote kabhi, tode na tute kabhi
jo dhaga tumse jud gaya wafa ka
main tera sarmaya hoon, jobhi main ban paya hoon, tumse hi, tumse hi
raaste mil jaate hai, manzile mil jaati hai, tumse hi, tumse hi
na hai yeh paana, na khona hi hai
tera na hona jaane kyun hona hi hai

Climb..

When you climb a tree, it gives a wider view of the things around you. But for that, you have to climb the tree.

Life is more exciting only when you have the guts to explore ahead of things 'visible' in life.

Life is vast. Too vast.

A ship in harbor is safe - but that is not what ships are for.

I know you are reading this - Have the guts to follow your heart and your heart will ensure your happiness!

Trust life. Trust you heart.

Sunshine and Showers!

Rainbows would never be rainbows
If Sunshine had never met Rain
No one would never need comfort
If there was no sadness and pain

Life holds both sunshine and showers
The days arent all bright and fair
Look through the showers for the rainbows
You'll always find Hope shining there.

Don’t you think both Sunshine and Showers are awesome in their own ways and once they meet, they create the magic of rainbows!

Just one someone is the one..

Make someone happy,
Make just one someone happy;
Make just one heart the heart you sing to.
One smile that cheers you,
One face that lights when it nears you,
One girl you're ev'rything to.

Fame if you win it,
Comes and goes in a minute.
Where's the real stuff in life to cling to?
Love is the answer,
Someone to love is the answer.
Once you've found her, build your world around her.

Make someone happy,
Make just one someone happy,
And you will be happy, too.

As time goes by..

You must remember this,
a kiss is still a kiss,
A sigh is just a sigh,
The fundamental things apply,
as time goes by.

And when two lovers woo,
they still say "I love you,"
on that you can rely,
No matter what the future brings,
as time goes by.

Moonlight and love songs,
never out of date,
Hearts full of passion,
jealousy and hate,
Woman needs man, and man must have his mate,
there's no one can deny.

It's still the same old story,
a fight for love and glory,
A case of do or die,
The world will always welcome lovers,
as time goes by.

Dorothy...

Constant attention by a good nurse may be just as important as a major operation by a surgeon.

A quote from one of my favorite websites:

During my second year of nursing school our professor gave us a quiz.  I breezed through the questions until I read the last one:  "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"  Surely this was a joke.  I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name?  I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.  Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade.  "Absolutely," the professor said.  "In your careers, you will meet many people.  All are significant.  They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello."  I've never forgotten that lesson.  I also learned her name was Dorothy.  ~Joann C. Jones

The light from within...

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.

The second option..

Reality and your imagination do not synchronize well in many cases. But when they do so in a sudden and favorable way, you get surprised. There is a mixture of feelings. You do not know whether you want to jump with joy or just wait for the precious moments to settle at the depths of your heart.

Am taking the second option.

What Connect!?

What do you do when suddenly you find yourself in the middle of a desert one fine night (and say, for the purpose of convenience, in a dream)?

No mobile network, no connectivity. Sounds good. Till you are hungry?

Connectivity is a relative term, I feel. I am connected to the rest of the world in many ways. And sometimes, this connectivity gets me into a stage that makes me think I would better be in that desert, (preferably, not alone, but can't afford to put her in trouble!), till I get hungry!

There are some ways in which these bouts of freedom are craved for, particulary when your connectivity makes you available to the whole globe from people any time of the day or night.

The Candle on the water..

I’ll be your candle on the water,
my love for you will always burn.
I know you’re lost and drifting
but the clouds are lifting.
Don’t give up, you have somewhere to turn.

I’ll be your candle on the water,
’till every wave is warm and bright.
My soul is there beside you,
let this candle guide you.
Soon you’ll see a golden stream of light.

A cold and friendless tide has found you,
don’t let the stormy darkness pull you down.
I’ll paint a ray of hope around you,
circling in the air,
lighted by a prayer.

I’ll be your candle on the water,
this flame inside of me will grow.
Keep holding on, you’ll make it,
here’s my hand so take it.
Look for me, reaching out to show,
as sure as rivers flow,
(different pitch)
I'll be your candle on the water,
this flame inside of me will grow.
Keep holding on you'll make it,
here's my hand so take it.
Look for me, reaching out to show, as sure as rivers flow,
I’ll never let you go.
I’ll never let you go.
I’ll never let you go...

Especially the blue..

From an email fwd:

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very st! ill.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a strange! r,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I! said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He! said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Salty Coffee is Sweet!

An email fwd:
He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please; let me go home.... suddenly he asked the waiter. "Would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but still, he
put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously; why
you have this hobby? He replied: "when I was a little boy, I was living
near the sea, I like playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the
sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the
salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I
miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there".
While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched.

That's his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can
tell out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about
home, has responsibility of home. Then she also started to speak, spoke
about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really
nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story.

They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who
meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm,
careful. He was such a good person but she almost missed him! Thanks to
his salty coffee!

Then the story was just like every beautiful love story , the
princess married to the prince, then they were living the happy life...
And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the
coffee, as she knew that's the way he liked it.

After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said: "My
dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only
lie I said to you---the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated?
I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said
salt
It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead.I never thought that
could be the start of our communication! I tried to tell you the truth
many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have
promised not to lie to you for anything..

Now I'm dying, I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don't
like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.. But I have had the
salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for
anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for
my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you
and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty
coffee again".

Her tears made the letter totally wet.

Someday, someone asked her: what's the taste of salty coffee?

It's sweet. She replied.

Not everything...

Some thoughts from Albert

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts."

"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."

"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love."
